Former Title Contender Returning To AEW Soon
Former title challenger buys a one-way ticket back to AEW...
Emi Sakura is coming back to All Elite Wrestling.
The former AEW Women's World Title contender tweeted the following on Sunday, calling out the company's women's division after revealing she had bought a one-way ticket to the United States:-
I decided to go to America with a one-way ticket. Please look forward to what happens to #ChocoPro from now on. We are, ChocoPro & we like a challenge. Now #AEW Women Division, you better be ready, Emi Sakura’s looking at the top & @RealBrittBaker looks very interesting.
The Gatoh Move promoter and joshi veteran has nine matches on her AEW resume already, having debuted alongside Yuka Sakazaki and opposite Riho, Hikaru Shida, and Ryo Mizunami at Double Or Nothing 2019. Sakura's most famous run came later that year, as she emerged as a contender for Riho's AEW Women's World Title, falling to her student at Full Gear.
Sakura last competed for AEW as part of the Women's World Championship Eliminator Tournament in February, competing exclusively in her native Japan. A first-round win over VENY brought Emi to a semi-final against Sakazaki, which she lost.
AEW is yet to formally announce Sakura's comeback and it's currently unclear when, exactly, she will be back on television. In returning, she will be following in Sakazaki's footsteps - the Tokyo Joshi Pro standout came back to AEW following her own lengthy absence earlier this month.
