PWInsider Elite reports that Drew McIntyre has landed back in the United States after an extended period out of the country filming a new Highlander movie alongside Hollywood stars such as Russell Crowe and Henry Cavill. The Scot has also been jetting off to Spain in order to shoot scenes for another movie: The Last Druid, so he's been rather busy.

McIntyre hasn't been spotted on WWE TV since losing an 'Unsanctioned Match' to regular rival Jacob Fatu at WrestleMania 42 in April. It's been an action-packed 4 month sabbatical for Drew though. Now, WWE fans eagerly anticipate his eventual return to Raw or SmackDown.

PWInsider did also note, however, that WWE's creative team hasn't put any firm plan in place for his comeback. That's still all up in the air, and it looks likely that McIntyre could be set to play the waiting game. Or, perhaps that's a red herring put out into the wrestling media so his return to telly is a shocking, impactful moment.

WWE might know exactly what they're playing at here.

In theory, Drew could be posted to Raw once he does launch his comeback. SmackDown's main event scene is stacked thanks to CM Punk, Kevin Owens, Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton, Sami Zayn, Gunther and even Finn Bálor. It might be tough to find house room there. Meanwhile, Raw could definitely use a star the stature of McIntyre near the top of the card.

That's all guesswork, admittedly, but Drew is back in the US and should be available soon. Fingers crossed the physical and mental break from WWE has done him some good.
