Former WWE NXT Cruiserweight Lio Rush was amongst the names announced for NJPW's revived Super J Cup tournament earlier today.

As confirmed during this morning's Road to Power Struggle show at Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Rush will compete as part of the eight-person, single-elimination Super J Cup 2020 on 12 December. The competition will be held in the United States, with travel restrictions relating to the ongoing global health crisis seemingly preventing wrestlers based in Japan from getting involved.

NJPW US regulars ACH, TJP, and Clark Connors are also involved, with Ring Of Honor's Rey Horus, Impact Wrestling's Chris Bey, GCW's Blake Christian, and the returning El Phantasmo rounding out the field.

Bullet Club member ELP hasn't wrestled for New Japan since February, which is almost certainly down to the aforementioned travel restrictions.

Released by WWE as part of the promotion's mass cuts on 15 April, Rush had previously claimed he was retiring from professional wrestling. He returned to the sport with GCW in July, working the promotion's Homecoming Weekend shows, and most recently wrestled ACH at Joey Janela's Spring Break 4 on 10 October. This Tuesday sees him debut on the UWN's Primetime Live show.
