Former WWE Star Appears As Mystery Partner At IMPACT Wrestling Slammiversary 2023
This two-time World Champion made a shock appearance at Slammiversary last night.
Eric Young is once again back in IMPACT Wrestling.
At last night's Slammiversary PPV, Young was revealed as the mystery partner for his old Team Canada buddy Scott D'Amore. There, EY and D'Amore picked up the win over Bully Ray and Deaner.
There were reports yesterday that Young might make an appearance at Slammiversary, and that has indeed come to pass.
In an update on Young's status, Fightful Select notes that he requested his WWE release in April. The hugely talented veteran's non-compete clause recently expired, meaning the two-time IMPACT World Champion was free to return to the promotion he's so synonymous with.
The Canadian was last seen in IMPACT back in December, where he was stabbed - seemingly fatally so - by Violent By Design teammate Deaner. In reality, that appearance had been taped a month prior, with Young having formally finished up with IMPACT in November.
That IMPACT exit was immediately followed by Young re-signing with WWE under the watch of Triple H. Of course, the 43-year-old had previously been with the market leader from 2016 until 2020, where the bulk of that time saw Young head up the SAnitY faction.
Per this Fightful report, Young - who was not featured at all during his WWE return - requested his release in April due to not wanting to work under the stewardship of Vince McMahon. The talent is said to have cited "moral, creative and personal reasons" for not being willing to work for McMahon.
