Former WWE Star Makes Depressing Admission About Steroid Use
This ex-WWE wrestler paints a very grim picture of industry pressures.
Former WWE star Maven says he's "not sorry" for taking copious amounts of steroids during his company career. In fact, the original Tough Enough winner "wishes [he'd] taken more".
Maven told 'The Monte & Pharaoh Show' that he refuses to "lie" like a lot of his fellow pros about using steroids to try and get ahead in the business. At 46 years old, he doesn't think he has to get "the approval" of anybody anyway, so lies wouldn't achieve anything.
What's more, Maven won't apologise for using anabolics to make a splash in WWE. For reference, the rookie burst onto the scene via Tough Enough in 2001, and was eventually released in July 2005 after countless ups and downs in the promotion.
The wrestler had a well-muscled look, but he was hardly bursting out of his skin like some workers from the 1980s boom of steroid use. Still, it's rather grim that Maven spoke of steroid abuse so casually, and even more depressing that he thinks he should've "taken more" to get noticed by WWE management.
Maven did also say that he wants to be "perfectly honest" when he's asked about such matters though.
