There had been much speculation as to whether Spears was going to commit his future to Cody Rhodes' promotion following his participation in the Casino Battle Royale at 'Double or Nothing', and the vignette confirms this to be the case.

Spears begins by questioning whether or not he made the right choice, no doubt in reference to asking for his release from WWE, but states:-

"I control my life, so now is the time to push forward. Fear's greatest habit is paralysing potential, so I say to hell with fear. Did I make the right call? You're damn right I did."

An underuntilised member of WWE's roster, having been in the system from as early as 2006, Spears made an unforgettable entrance at the 2017 Royal Rumble as entrant #10 and was subsequently called up to the main roster later that year. He was kept out of action following a hand injury in October 2018 for several months, before requesting and being granted his release from WWE in February of this year.
