Former WWE Star Returns To Impact
Eric Young made Slammiversary comeback.
After weeks of rumours, TNA Grand Slam Winner Eric Young made a triumphant return to Impact at last night's Slammiversary pay-per-view.
Though many were expecting Young - or another high profile ex-Impact star released from WWE back in April - to take the mystery man spot in the night's fatal four way for the World Championship, it was actually Rich Swann who filled the void. However, shortly after he was announced, Eric Young's music boomed out, and he rechristened the contest a five-way.
The ex-Sanity man did not prevail, eliminated by the man he'd attempted to gazump, Swann. Eddie Edwards ultimately walked away with the vacant strap, last pinning Ace Austin to commence his second reign with the belt.
Young, 40, was a TNA mainstay between 2004 to 2016, winning literally every championship on offer - including the TNA Knockouts Tag Titles. At the expiration of his contract, he migrated to NXT, where he formed the Sanity stable alongside Alexander Wolfe, Sawyer Fulton and Nikki Cross.
Though the faction often starred in Full Sail, success couldn't translate to the main roster, and Young was eventually relegated to a singles role on Main Event. WWE released him as part of their economising talent cuts this past April.
