Pro wrestling television works best when it rewards its fans for paying attention. Viewers who have been taking note of the past couple of weeks of AEW programming might have noticed some subtle hints that would lead you to believe that Bret "Hitman" Hart could be coming into the company in the near future.

Former AEW World Tag Team Champions FTR - who are huge Hart fans - have been at the center of these hints. After firing manager Tully Blanchard, the duo were backstage last week when the Young Bucks dropped a nugget by saying that FTR could get a new manager, "the best there is," but it wouldn't matter in a rematch against them.

Wednesday, Dax Harwood had a rare singles match against CM Punk, losing after a fiercely competitive bout. During the match, Harwood locked in a Sharpshooter, with Jim Ross name-dropping Bret. Of course, they could have just as easily called it the Scorpion Deathlock, since it's essentially the same move, and Sting wrestles for AEW. But AEW doesn't do stuff like this by accident, so that was a pretty obvious Easter Egg.

Afterwards, FTR were doing a backstage promo - backlit in pink - where Cash Wheeler noted that his tag partner always wrestles "from the heart." Again, there's no way that's an accident. It's also no accident that Punk and Dax later engaged in a somewhat playful Twitter spat:

Considering AEW will launch the Owen Hart Cup tournament later this spring, it would only make sense if older brother Bret were to come into the company on a regular basis. Mentoring a team that genuinely loves and respects him would be a pretty cool venture for the Hitman, and it would get him more into the wrestling mix than he has been in more than a decade.
