Gable Steveson Finally Heading To WWE?
The latest on Gable Steveson following his second NCAA wrestling championship win.
Gable Steveson appears to be edging closer to WWE after claiming his second NCAA wrestling championship in as many years over the weekend.
Defeating Cohlton Schultz of Arizona State 6-2 in Saturday's finals, Steveson, who currently attends the University of Minnesota, left his wrestling shoes on the mat before departing, signalling his retirement from amateur wrestling.

This latest NCAA title is the latest in a long line of triumphs for the 21-year-old, who took the gold medal for men's freestyle wrestling in the 125 kg division at the 2020 Olympic Games.
Steveson signed for WWE in September 2021, becoming the first athlete to ink a name, image, and likeness deal with the market-leading promotion, doing so as a precursor to the 'Next In Line' college recruitment program. It was confirmed shortly after Gable signed with WWE that he would be returning to the University of Minnesota to complete his senior year and defend the NCAA Division I Heavyweight Wrestling Championship. At the time, Steveson wasn't expected to commence full-time training at the WWE Performance Center until he had graduated in May.
While nothing is confirmed yet, it would appear, following his college wrestling retirement, that Steveson is close to making the jump.
Sent to Raw as part of the 2021 WWE Draft, Steveson has appeared on-camera for WWE several times over the past 12 months, most notably at SummerSlam 2021, where he was paraded alongside follow Olympian Tamyra Mensah-Stock.
