Goldberg's WWE Contract Expires - Is Now Free Agent
Da Man's latest WWE contract is believed to have expired following his match against Roman Reigns.
Following his match against Universal Champion Roman Reigns as this past weekend's Elimination Chamber premium live event, it's believed that Bill Goldberg is now a free agent.
Prior to Elimination Chamber, Goldberg had stated on several occasions how he only had one match remaining on his most recent WWE contract. With that bout against the Tribal Chief - a bout Da Man came up short in - now in the records books, that indicates the one-time WCW World Heavyweight Champion is free of any ties to Vince McMahon's sports entertainment juggernaut.
Goldberg had previously taken to Instagram ahead of that Reigns match, stating how the contest could his "last in a WWE ring" and "possibly my final mission in the wrestling world". The WWE Hall of Famer also noted how the trip to Saudi Arabia for Elimination Chamber was "kind of bittersweet" as it may be his "last here as a performer".
There's no word yet on whether WWE has any interest in bringing Goldberg back for future matches down the line, but Bill himself has publicly declared how he'd have interest in continuing to work with the organisation.
Of course, it could well be likely that WWE reaches out to Goldberg to work further Saudi dates, with four of the three-time WWE World Champion's past eight matches all taking place in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabi; Goldberg losing to the Undertaker at Super ShowDown 2019, beating 'The Fiend' Bray Wyatt to become Universal Champion at Super ShowDown 2020, scoring a win over Bobby Lashley at Crown Jewel 2021, and then finally the recent match against Roman Reigns.
One also has to imagine that Steve Austin's rumoured return to action at WrestleMania 38 may have some in WWE dreaming of finally doing an Austin vs. Goldberg match...
