Goldust hasn't been seen on WWE television since May 2018, with the 49-year-old sidelined by essential double-knee surgery. He has since mounted a full recovery, but creative don't seem to have anything for him, and he had been linked with joining brother Cody Rhodes in All Elite Wrestling a few months ago.

This talk intensified last night, when Pro Wrestling Sheet reported that Goldust's WWE contract had expired and that the former Intercontinental Champion was waiting out his 90-day no-compete clause before making his next career move. The report cited Goldy removing all mention of WWE from his social media profiles as further evidence of this.

Not for the first time, though, it looks like this story was wide of the mark. Goldust was quick to rebut the claims on social media:-

A strong, strong denial from the WWE veteran, and while it's easy to imagine him being intrigued by the idea of joining AEW, there's no reason not to believe his tweet.

Goldust might be winding down his in-ring career, but WWE have little reason to let him go. A man of his knowledge and experience should make a great road agent or producer, theoretically.
