Greg 'The Hammer' Valentine, Shaq & More Make Cameos On AEW Dynamite
A host of special guests show up for last night's Dynamite.
A host of wrestling legends and celebrities appeared on last night’s AEW Dynamite, with Greg ‘The Hammer’ Valentine perhaps the most important.
Valentine was shown at ringside during Cody and Mr. Brodie Lee’s TNT Championship match. AEW revived the old dog collar stipulation for this bout, so ‘The Hammer’s’ presence was entirely appropriate, given that he and ‘Rowdy’ Roddy Piper worked what is generally regarded the gimmick’s greatest match at Starrcade 1983.
A bunch of other notable names were brought in for Chris Jericho’s 30th Anniversary celebrations as well. Among them were KISS members Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley, Shaquille O’Neal, Slash of Guns ‘N Roses, Dennis Miller, Impact Wrestling’s Don Callis, Lars Ulrich of Metallica, Diamond Dallas Page, and Jericho’s father, the legendary hockey player, Ted Irvine.
Jericho’s anniversary celebrations also brought vignettes featuring the AEW roster heaping lofty praise on ‘Le Champion,’ as well as a bout pitting the Inner Circle’s leader and Jake Hager against Luther and Serpentico. Jericho and Jake won the match but were interrupted by MJF afterwards, prompting the latest tense and not-entirely-sincere show of “respect” between the two, which almost came to blows. An eventful night for ‘The Painmaker,’ all in all.
