Hangman Page "Frustrated" With Lack Of AEW Matches Since Winning World Title
Page's match with Bryan Danielson will be his first for AEW in a month.
'Hangman' Adam Page puts his AEW World Championship up against Bryan Danielson on tonight's special Winter Is Coming episode of Dynamite.
It'll be the 30-year-old's first match of any kind since taking AEW's top strap from Kenny Omega at Full Gear 2021 on 13 November. Instead of fighting, Page has been made to sit in the announce booth or backstage and watch Danielson pick his Dark Order stablemates apart one by one, building to their Winter Is Coming showdown.
And it's getting to him.
In comments that are likely in character, given he mentions wanting to face Danielson earlier (a key component of their story), Page expressed frustration at being sidelined for four weeks while appearing on Oral Sessions with Renee Paquette (h/t Fightful):-
"It's great. It's a little surreal, I don't think it'll ever sink in at this point. It's also a little frustrating because I've worked so hard for so long and won this championship and I have not gotten to wrestle a match since I won it. It's been three or four weeks and I've been asking for a match with Bryan Danielson since after the pay-per-view and I haven't gotten to wrestle. It's kind of frustrating as well. I'm sure it feels that way for people in other sports. You win the Super Bowl and then you just don't play football for a long time, which is not what I want at all, so it's a little frustrating. Otherwise, an incredible feeling. An incredible feeling to know that myself, what I put into everything that AEW started, it wasn't rejected, it was embraced and helped me achieve something. it could've went the other way where people s**t on who you are. You become so vulnerable and try something different, but it worked, so it's an incredible feeling."
Danielson earned his shot at Page's gold by defeating Miro to win the World Title Eliminator tournament at Full Gear. The 'American Dragon' has competed on every episode of Dynamite since then, defeating John Silver, Alan Angels, Colt Cabana, and Evil Uno, creating a deliberate contrast with Page.
