As reported on WWE.com, HBO Sports, WWE, and the Bill Simmons Media Group are teaming up to produce Andre the Giant, a documentary on the life and career of the beloved wrestling legend.

The documentary was unveiled by WWE Executive Producer Kevin Dunn and Peter Nelson, HBO Sports' Executive Vice President. It will cover everything from Andre's childhood in his native France, all the way through his WWE career and beyond.

WWE Chairman Vince McMahon had the following to say on the project:-

"For more than 20 years, Andre the Giant’s larger than life personality and unique charisma captured the imagination of fans around the world. I will always value our friendship, and I am proud to tell the story of the ‘Eighth Wonder of the World.'"

Emmy-Award winning director/producer Jason Hehir will direct the project, which is WWE and HBO Sports' first collaboration. The documentary is set to feature never-before-seen footage and in-depth interviews with WWE Superstars, friends, family, and more, promising an intimate look at wrestling's most famous giant.

Known for his athletic prowess and towering 500lb, 7'4" frame, Andre was WWE's biggest special attraction in the 1980s. His initial undefeated streak lasted the best part of a decade, and he hit his pinnacle while feuding with Hulk Hogan in 1987. Sadly, Andre's health declined rapidly in later years, and after passing away in January 1993, Andre became the first ever WWE Hall of Famer later that year.
