Hook's New AEW Theme Is Strangely Mired In Backstage Politics (AEW News)
This week's AEW Dynamite saw Hook return to action, but not Action...Bronson!
Hook returned to AEW TV on this past Wednesday's episode of Dynamite, and the young star has a brand new entrance theme to go along with his comeback. His new music is Jay-Jay Johanson's 1996 track 'So Tell The Girls That I Am Back In Town', and it's already split opinion on social media - some reckon it's an improvement on his old music, whilst others aren't so sure.
Fightful Select reports that there's a surprising amount of drama backstage surrounding the change. Previously, Hook used a track put together by Action Bronson, but his negative comments about AEW soured the relationship between rapper and promotion. Fightful reported that this "definitely didn’t sit well with a number of people in All Elite Wrestling".
They also heard from sources that things "were smoothed over" eventually, but that AEW chief Tony Khan decided to go in a different direction with new music for Hook anyway.
The website followed up with news that Hook's more recent appearances late last year into early-2025 were carefully constructed so that he'd be brought "out with other people, and also [have] him attack people without his entrance music playing". That was a deliberate choice due to the deliberations about the Action Bronson song (licensing for the tune had expired) and what Khan planned to do with Hook's entrance next.
Wednesday's Dynamite answered that question. Bronson is out and Jay-Jay is in. Hook attacked Death Riders member Wheeler Yuta on the flagship. The lights went out, his new music blared over the speakers in the 2300 Arena (the old ECW Arena), then Hook left his mark on Wheeler.
As always, most people will likely get on board with the switch in music soon.
