How Serious Is Tyson Kidd's Spinal Cord Back Injury?
Former tag team champion injured in Monday's dark match against Samoa Joe.
Wrestling Observer, who referenced another WWE performer sharing this info, Kidd suffered a spinal cord injury. The good news is that Kidd is expected to make a full recovery and will hopefully avoid surgery, but no other details are known. It's a scary situation any time you hear about a spinal cord injury in wrestling because there have been many instances where wrestlers have suffered serious or even career ending injuries because of them. While it's not a certainty that he will be able to avoid surgery, hopefully he can and that he won't miss too much action. PWInsider noted he may be out for several months although there's no specific timetable yet. We don't know exactly when the injury occurred, but Samoa Joe beat Kidd with a Muscle Buster at the end of the match. That's a move that Joe has done for years that has hurt a few people because he's cradling the guy above his shoulder, then dropping down with force and if there's a slip in there then it could compress the spine, which would be very painful. It was noted by Dave Meltzer that WWE has some new policy where they are attempting to keep injuries very quiet, likely because they don't want incorrect info to get out there. It's a way to protect the talent, but it's bad in the sense that wrong info could be out there and bad rumors could spread. There haven't been any comments from Kidd on the injury yet, but his wife Natalya thanked people for offering support for Tyson. https://twitter.com/NatbyNature/status/606219964102504448 Kidd has had a tremendous run in the last year. He was a star in NXT last year because he finally got a chance to show off his personality and had some great matches with the likes of Neville, Sami Zayn, Tyler Breeze and others. His heel persona really got over well, so much so that he received a decent push on the main roster and then that turned into the awesome tag team with Cesaro. They went on to win the Tag Team Titles in February, dropped them to The New Day in April and are locked in as one of the top teams in the company as babyfaces that the crowd loves. We wish Tyson Kidd all the best in his recovery. Hopefully he's back in the ring soon, but with a spinal cord injury it's obviously smart to take some time and make sure he's ready for action when the time is right.
Tyson Kidd was injured on Monday during his dark match against Samoa Joe, which took place before Raw. It may air on Superstars this week, but was likely just a dark match for the fans in attendance. According to the
