If this is part of a storyline, then it's one WWE themselves are taking VERY seriously.

The Wrestling Observer has noted that WWE staff recently moved Brock Lesnar to the alumni section of roster pages on the promotion's official website. This comes in the wake of Brock apparently retiring from active in-ring action following a loss to Oba Femi at WrestleMania 42.

Lesnar put new monster Oba over strong in Las Vegas, then removed his gloves and boots before embracing longtime manager Paul Heyman mid-ring. On commentary, announcers like Michael Cole acted shocked at what was happening, then paid tribute to the legendary career Brock has worked since debuting in 2002.

Rumours persist that this is all part of a storyline that'll see Lesnar come 'out of retirement' to wrestle Gunther at SummerSlam in August. Brock is someone the 'Ring General' admires, and he's made no secret of his ambition to work a match vs. Lesnar at some point in his own career.

That can only happen on Brock's terms.

The ball is very much in his court, not necessarily WWE or TKO's. However, Lesnar could be tempted by one more payday in Minneapolis over the summer before officially calling it quits. If that's the case, then it'd be pretty easy for creative to pivot.

All they'd need to do is have Gunther hold Heyman to ransom. The former ECW owner owes the Austrian a favour on TV due to the fact he stepped up to Seth Rollins at 'Mania. It'd be pretty simple for WWE to explain Lesnar's return away as a bid to save Paul from a kicking at the hands of the irate Gunther.
