Matt Riddle will challenge for AJ Styles' WWE Intercontinental Championship on tonight's episode of SmackDown, but don't expect 'The Original Bro' to leave with the title.

This is according to a new report from Fightful Select stating that WWE doesn't plan on strapping Riddle for now. Styles will seemingly get the victory over him, with Baron Corbin potentially involved in the finish, then joining 'The Phenomenal One' in beating down his failed challenger after the bell. This will feed into the ongoing storyline between Riddle and SmackDown's 'King.'

Late June brought reports that Corbin was unhappy about the idea of working with Riddle on the main roster, with the big man quoted as saying Matt should have to "beat five enhancement talents" before graduating to a match with him.

Tonight's episode of SmackDown is being taped at the Performance Center in Orlando, Florida today. Joining Riddle vs. Styles on the card are a very special episode of the Firefly Fun House ahead of Bray Wyatt's Swamp Fight with Braun Strowman at The Horror Show at Extreme Rules, Alexa Bliss bringing a special guest to A Moment of Bliss, and more.
