Huge Update On Gable Steveson's WWE Status
What next for the former Olympian and his would-be WWE career?
One year after officially being drafted to Raw as part of WWE's annual roster reshuffle, Gable Steveson has commenced full-time training at the Performance Center.
This is per ESPN's Mike Coppinger. Steveson, who spoke to the outlet directly, underwent heart surgery to treat Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome last month. The former Olympian had learned of his condition prior to representing the United States at the 2020 Summer Games, though he opted against going under the knife at the time, with the WWE medical team guiding him through the process.
A months-long process followed, delaying Steveson's Performance Center start. Now, however, he is in the system, telling ESPN the following:-
"We're just excited to get this journey started, it's been a long road to get to this point... I feel that I'm capable of being in that top spot and I feel that I'm capable of handling that position in the right way. I'm a competitor, I'm an entertainer. I can do things that a lot of other big guys can't. I look forward to putting that on display and sooner or later, taking over that top spot and being the guy that people want to see."
The 22-year-old, who won the gold medal in 125 KG men's freestyle wrestling at the 2020 Olympics, was a high-profile WWE signing in September 2021. Talk of him potentially returning for another season of NCAA wrestling emerged earlier this year, though going full-time at the Performance Center likely prevents this.
