This news comes fresh off the 36-year-old filling in for Kevin Kelly on this past weekend's episode of AEW Collision. With Kelly absent due to working New Japan Pro-Wrestling's G1 Climax, Riccaboni joined Nigel McGuinness to call the action on Saturday. As is ever the case, Ian won plentiful plaudits for his excellent work, with him and McGuinness proving to be a fantastic pairing.

Riccaboni will continue to call Collision for the next four weeks while Kevin Kelly works the G1, and this report notes how the Pennsylvania native will be used as cover for both Kelly and Excalibur whenever they need time off.

It's also noted in this Fightful report how Ian Riccaboni was originally offered the lead announcer spot on AEW Collision, but that he turned the gig down due to wanting to spend more time with his family. Instead, Riccaboni suggested Kevin Kelly for that role.

Of course, Ian Riccaboni can also be found calling the Ring of Honor action alongside Caprice Coleman in a pairing which many herald as the very best commentary team in the industry these days.
