Impact Wrestling has parted ways with Jeff Jarrett and Global Force Wrestling, just six months after their merger.

In a brief Twitter statement, America's number two promotion - formerly TNA - said: "Impact Wrestling announced today that it has terminated its business relationship with Jeff Jarrett and Global Force Entertainment Inc., effective immediately."

Though it has come - on the eve of November's Bound For Glory - somewhat out of the blue, few will be surprised at the news that Jeff Jarrett's position within the company was made untenable.

Despite being a key figure in the merger, the former WCW star was removed from his role as Global Force Wrestling's Chief Creative Officer two months ago amid reported personal issues.

In the midst of a protracted re-branding process - which predated Global Force's investment - the company has been dogged this year by negative press, stemming mainly from perceived financial mismanagement and its leading stars' public mishaps.

They have also had to contend with the loss of several established names, among them Drew Galloway and Matt and Jeff Hardy, who returned to WWE (in the case of the latter two, not without a parting shot at their former employers).

Having never entirely dropped "Impact" from its branding, it is thought that they will go back to the name they started using this year after making a clean break from the "TNA" of old.
