IMPACT's Sami Callihan Suffers A Broken Ankle, Undergoes Surgery
Bad news for the 'Draw', who'll be out for the next several months with a broken ankle.
Sami Callihan suffered a broken ankle during the latest IMPACT Wrestling tapings, reports the Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer. He'll be out until spring 2022 at the earliest, though he's already undergone surgery.
There's no word on when, exactly, the injury took place, though discourse over on the IMPACT Asylum forum seems to indicate it came during a match also involving Moose. The two have been feuding as of late, joined by Eddie Edwards and W. Morrissey, respectively. The two teams had a match at the Victory Road special over the weekend (though it was taped in August), with Sami eating a pin from Moose.
Debuting with IMPACT at the 2017 Bound For Glory pay-per-view, the 'Callihan Death Machine' has been an integral part of the promotion ever since. He lifted the World Title from Brian Cage in October 2019, enjoying a two-month title reign before dropping the strap to Tessa Blanchard. Elsewhere, Sami has remained in prolific feuds opposite Ken Shamrock, Rich Swann, and Eddie Edwards.
Callihan signed a new contract with IMPACT on 1 January, ensuring he remained in the company for an additional two years. There's currently no word on if this will be extended further due to the injury.
The content taped by IMPACT over the weekend will air over the coming weeks, leading into the 23 October Bound For Glory.
