Interesting Note On Vince McMahon's Behaviour Backstage At WWE SmackDown
Vince McMahon was in full control of backstage operations at SmackDown.
PWInsider Elite is reporting that Vince McMahon was "business as usual" at last night's WWE SmackDown show in Fort Worth, Texas.
The controversial and temporarily deposed CEO/Chairman was "100% responsible" for all of the creative that happened on the two-hour broadcast. However, the site's in-company sources told them that McMahon arrived at the arena later than he usually does for TV tapings.
Further, Vince didn't broach the fresh allegations brought against him in a new Wall Street Journal report. PWInsider's sources claim that McMahon's staunch refusal to so much as mention any of this led to an uneasy atmosphere behind the scenes.
It was said to be "the proverbial elephant in the room".
Interestingly, neither Stephanie McMahon nor Triple H were present for SmackDown. Bruce Prichard, who had previously taken some time off for shoulder surgery, was on hand to assist Vince instead. Readers may notice that this definitely does seem "business as usual" in WWE circles - McMahon is almost acting like nothing has happened.
Friday's SmackDown welcomed back Roman Reigns for build towards his 'Last Man Standing' bout vs. Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam on 30 July.
