Internal Confusion Over WWE's New Money In The Bank Promo

WWE sparked confusion over its long-running Money In The Bank concept at WrestleMania Backlash 2022 (8 May), broadcasting a promotional video that saw Cody Rhodes proclaim this year's briefcase-grabbers would "win the chance to main event WrestleMania."
Winning Money In The Bank typically grants the victor a case containing a contract to cash in for a title shot whenever they see fit. Limiting this to the WrestleMania main event would therefore represent a dramatic shift, though there were multiple interpretations of Rhodes' words. Ultimately, he may simply have been suggesting that whoever wins would have the opportunity to headline 'Mania as a world champion (following a successful cash-in).
In an update, Dave Meltzer suggested that the lack of clarity extends to WWE's backstage area.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, he stated that after asking around, nobody knew what was going on. WWE's response was that there was no official statement on the matter. Additionally, people who should have knowledge of the situation did not, leading to surprise.
WWE aired the promo again on last night's episode of Raw. The promotion is yet to make an official announcement on the matter ahead of the Money In The Bank premium live event, which is set for Saturday 2 July 2022.
