Is Daniel Bryan WWE SmackDown's New GM?
Yes! Yes! Yes!
WWE's own app may have spoiled a big surprise for next week's Raw.
A news story with the headline "The 'Yes!' Movement takes over SmackDown Live!" briefly appeared on their app last night before being taken down.
Monday night's episode of Raw ended with Stephanie McMahon gaining control of Raw, and Shane set to run SmackDown. We were then given a bit of a cliffhanger of who they were going to choose for their General Manager next week. Half of that surprise may now be spoiled.
If Daniel Bryan is chosen as the GM, this could be a great move. We haven't seen him on TV very much since his retirement, and he has a deep connection with the fanbase. He would also be a refreshing change from the evil authority figures who have run the main shows for years. How he's booked is key, though, as even Steve Austin quickly ran his course as the "sheriff" of Raw after his run ended.
This could also be a bit of a strange move if Stephanie chooses a heel to help her run Raw. That would seem to set Raw up as a bit of a heel brand, and SmackDown as a face one. We'll have to see how it plays out.
Hopefully WWE doesn't plan to swerve us now that the news is out, and decides to choose someone else besides Bryan.
