Mexican wunderkind El Hijo del Vikingo may have pulled off 2021's craziest wrestling spot to date over the weekend.

Competing at AAA's Verano De Escandalo 2021 on Saturday 3 July, the flier climbed the turnbuckles and steadied himself on the top rope. Rather than hitting a move, however, Vikingo used the corner as a platform to reach the ceiling. He leapt up, grabbed a pole running across the top of the building, and flew off, nailing a flying headscissors takedown onto one of his opponents.

Vikingo was victorious in this six-way match featuring Aramis, Komander, Latigo, Toxin, and Kamikaze. The 24-year-old has become known for his dazzling, eye-catching style after breaking out in his native Mexico over the past few years, and this was the latest in a long line of eyeball-popping spots from the sought-after AAA wrestler.

December 2020 saw Vikingo linked with a shot at Kenny Omega's AAA Mega Championship after Kenny called him out following a successful defence over Laredo Kid in an acclaimed bout. While this is yet to happen, Vikingo keeps the dream alive through his deliberate use of some of Omega's signature moves, including a variation of the One-Winged Angel.
