Jade Cargill Done With AEW?
Could the former TBS Champion be done with AEW?
Having dropped the TBS Title to the returning Kris Statlander at Double or Nothing two months ago, could Jade Cargill be done with AEW?
Cargill hasn't been seen on AEW programming since suffering the first loss of her wrestling career, and there certainly seems to be some uncertainty over That Bitch's future.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio (via WrestlingNews.co), Dave Meltzer noted how Jade is "considering not coming back" to All Elite Wrestling.
As Meltzer put it when discussing Cargill's current status:
"Nothing past she's considering not coming back, is what she said, which was the last thing we heard. She wanted to take some time off. Sometimes I feel like, boy, it's like they pushed her and pushed her and pushed her and pushed her, and they never put her in the big matches. Then she's gone. Like, a multi-year push, and yet they gave her that one belt, but she never, but I don't know if that, there's like, again, did she never wrestle Britt [Baker]? You know, she never wrestled Toni Storm. Almost like they kept them away from her, now she's gone. So, will she be back? I mean, she's got a storyline to come back to. I mean, they didn't, you know, she lost, but she lost in a way where she had a gripe, but she's gone. She never made the gripe. I don't know what the future holds for her. She's the only one who probably knows. Yeah. I mean, Maybe she's still figuring it out."
Where that "gripe" is concerned, Jade Cargill only lost her TBS Title to Kris Statlander after Jade had already beaten Taya Valkyrie at Double or Nothing. An impromptu post-match challenge of sorts saw Statlander head to the ring and topple Cargill to bring an end to Jade's unbeaten streak and take her title.
As alluded to by Dave Meltzer, AEW has put plenty of stock in Cargill across the past three years. Prior to wrestling her first match for the promotion - a mixed tag pitting Jade and Shaquille O'Neal against Cody Rhodes and Red Velvet on the 3 March 2021 episode of Dynamite - Jade had never competed in the squared circle. Since joining Tony Khan's promotion, the 31-year-old has been kept away from certain big-time players of the AEW women's division, which means there's still plenty on the table should Cargill indeed return to AEW in the future.
When looking across the AEW women's roster, matches with the likes of Britt Baker, Toni Storm, Jamie Hayter, Saraya, and Hikaru Shida are all fresh match-ups and major opponents Jade has yet to face.
