Jeff Hardy was back on AEW television on Wednesday night, saving brother Matt and HOOK from The Firm in his first onscreen appearance since his June 2022 arrest.

The angle, which played out in the ring, began with Matt Hardy revealing to Ethan Page that he and Private Party were no longer contractually bound to the firm. Big Bill and Lee Moriarty then took Matt and Isiah Kassidy out from behind, with HOOK's attempted save quickly thwarted. The Hardys' music hit and Jeff arrived on the scene with a steel chair, evening the odds, helping the babyfaces take The Firm down, and hitting a Swanton Bomb on Moriarty.

Matt and Jeff embraced in the ring to close the angle. The angle was reminiscent of Jeff's March 2022 AEW debut, when he made a similar run-in to assist Matt against Andrade El Idolo, Private Party, and The Butcher and The Blade.

Arrested in Volusia County, Florida last June, Jeff faced charges of driving with a suspended license, violating restrictions placed on his license, and felony DUI. This February, he was sentenced to 38 days in prison (which he'd already served), a two-year probationary period, a 10-year suspension of his license, and more.

AEW founder and president Tony Khan confirmed at the time of Jeff's arrest that he wouldn't be allowed to return to the promotion until he had completed an alcohol rehabilitation program.
