Speaking with Jason Martin and Ramon Foster on JMart and Ramon, Ross revealed himself that his contract is coming up, though he's still having a good time in his role for the Tony Khan-helmed promotion (h/t Fightful for the transcription):-

"[AEW is] in a really cool spot, especially a guy like me. My contract is up soon. I'm not looking to go anywhere, but nonetheless, I'm 70. I have to be realistic at some point in my crazy ass life. I haven't been. My late wife would say, 'Amen to that. He's a character.' I'm loving what I'm doing. It's still fun for me. As long as you keep that element in the place of work, you're alright and doing good."

JR was one of several AEW talents to sign an initial three-year deal in 2019. His was agreed that April, meaning that he may only have a couple of months left on his current contract before presumably entering negotiations over a new one.

Three years on from AEW's birth, Ross retains a key position in the Dynamite and pay-per-view announce booths while also functioning as an advisor behind the scenes.
