Jim Ross' Colon Cancer Surgery Went Well (AEW News)
Positive news for AEW, WWE and all pro wrestling fans regarding iconic announcer JR.
Iconic and beloved pro wrestling announcer Jim Ross has undergone successful surgery to treat colon cancer. The WWE Hall Of Famer, who has been tied to AEW since the group's official inception back in 2019, went under the knife on Tuesday 27 May. Fans were eagerly awaiting reports about how Jim got on, and the news is thankfully positive.
JR's podcast co-host (on the popular 'Grilling JR' show) Conrad Thompson posted via X to allay some fears and spread the good news. He cheerfully reported that he'd heard from a friend - Ross's surgery had gone well. Then, Conrad encouraged everyone to, "Please keep [JR] in your thoughts and prayers as he begins his recovery!".
The cherished commentator is sure to get a ton of support from those inside living the biz and those outside watching it. To that point, Jim had previously revealed that he received a rather supportive phone call from none other than Steve Austin. 'Stone Cold' wanted to raise his pal's spirits during their 43 minute chat, and he did.
Ross told listeners on 'Grilling JR' pre-surgery that the talk made him "feel strong and vibrant". Good on Austin for making sure to give Jim that backing. It was surely needed during a frankly scary and uncertain time for the legend.
AEW boss Tony Khan will stick by JR during his recovery process. Jim has called Tony's support "amazing" in the past, and there's no reason to believe that'll change any time soon.
