Jinder Mahal Challenges Brock Lesnar For WWE Survivor Series 2017
Will it be 'Beast' vs. 'Maharaja' on November 19th?
WWE Champion Jinder Mahal publicly challenged Universal Champion Brock Lesnar to a huge inter-brand match during last night's SmackDown, with November 19th's Survivor Series PPV the destination.
'The Modern Day Maharaja' was interrupted by AJ Styles shortly after throwing down the gauntlet, and there was no sign of Lesnar or Paul Heyman, so we're still awaiting official confirmation of who Mahal will face on the year's last 'big four' pay-per-view. Regardless, news of a potential champion vs. champion match with 'The Beast' broke late last week, and last night's segment keeps the rumours alive.
Jinder has now been WWE Champion for 150 days, having successfully defended the gold against Shinsuke Nakamura at Hell In A Cell. Lesnar, meanwhile, has held the Universal Title since WrestleMania 33 on April 2nd, but has only defended the belt thrice.
The initial reports suggested that Mahal vs. Lesnar would be a non-title bout, which makes sense. Having one man hold both belts would complicate the brand split, though few would be disappointed to see 'The Beast' take 'The Maharaja's' title - provided Styles doesn't get there before him.
