It looks like independent wrestling standout Joey Ryan may not be on his way to All Elite Wrestling after all.

This is according to SoCalUncensored.com, who cover Californian wrestling extensively. They claim that multiple sources have informed them that Ryan has turned an official AEW contract offer down, despite constant speculation linking him with the nascent promotion, and his status as a regular cast member on the Being The Elite YouTube series.

The 39-year-old was recently released from his restrictive Lucha Underground deal. This news was followed by a Dave Meltzer report stating that WWE had reached out to Ryan, before the man himself released a "farewell to the indies" shirt. Now, it looks like Joey's future is back up in the air.

When asked about the situation, Ryan told SoCalUncensored.com that "everything will be answered Thursday," when his Bar Wrestling promotion hold their latest event:-

If true, Ryan saying "no" to All Elite is a big, big surprise. Many had him pegged for a surprise Double Or Nothing appearance, and, given his close links with The Elite, him signing there was considered a dead cert. We'll see what happens on Thursday, but Joey's future looks difficult to roadmap at the moment.
