John Cena & Nikki Bella Teaming For WWE WrestleMania 33 Match?
New plans are afoot for the WWE Champion.
John Cena was originally set to face The Undertaker at WrestleMania 33, but the match was shot down a couple of weeks ago. Speculation has surrounded WWE's plans for their biggest star since then, with the Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer suggesting that the latest ideas for Cena "weren't necessarily good news," and probably "wouldn't be celebrated by the fans."
There has been talk of WWE running Cena and Nikki Bella vs. The Miz and Maryse in Orlando. This rumour was acknowledged by Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Live this week, and the build could start next week.
The Miz will be one of five wrestlers challenging for Cena's title at Elimination Chamber on February 12th, and WWE could set the feud up with a clash inside the structure. Bella, meanwhile, will wrestle Natalya at the pay-per-view.
Samoa Joe vs. John Cena was considered for WrestleMania at one point, but was taken off the table a while ago. Alvarez notes, however, that one idea discussed at Wednesday's WWE creative meeting following Seth Rollins' injury was moving Joe to SmackDown, and having him face Cena after all. Joe was set to wrestle Rollins at Fastlane in March, but the injury has likely shelved this along with Rollins vs. Triple H at WrestleMania.
