John Cena Planning One Last WWE Run
Big Match John has plans for one final WWE run.
Having appeared at WrestleMania XL and competed on last night's Raw, John Cena is hopeful of having one last WWE run next year.
Speaking on The Pat McAfee Show (via WrestlingNews.co), Cena noted how he's "still got a little bit of rubber left on the tire", but admitted that he can no longer do on a frequent basis what he used to do between the ropes. Added to that, Big Match John talked about his initial plans to retire once he hits 50, explaining how he now feels he'll be hanging up his boots before that point.
As for one final WWE run, the 16-time World Champion discussed his upcoming schedule and how he's hopeful of being able to have that run next year.
"I was grateful enough that Honda kind of bumped a commitment I had to be able to do WrestleMania, so I’ll go from here to do something with Honda. So I’m going straight to that. I have a cool keynote appearance with Samsung in Las Vegas. Their theme of the convention is ‘time is now,’ so they called on yours truly to speak there. I’m very grateful for that. I have some more branding stuff to do before I leave for Europe to finish a movie that we started filming before the strike called Heads of State with Priyanka Chopra and Idris Elba, and then straight from that to Peacemaker Season Two. That’ll take us through just about Christmas, and I’m crossing my fingers and toes and my heart that maybe I can tell the Hollywood world to pump the breaks for a while and come back to my family for one last run. I don’t know. I hope, I’m trying, I hope, we’ll see what happens."
These past few days saw John Cena help Cody Rhodes in finishing his story at WrestleMania XL, with the 47-year-old coming to the ring to neutralise Solo Sikoa, before he himself was laid out by The Rock. As for last night's Raw, Cena was the surprise partner for R-Truth and The Miz as they picked up a win over Judgment Day's Finn Balor, JD McDonagh, and Dominik Mysterio - although John was only involved minimally when it came to physicality.
