The Champ is here! Well...almost.

We haven't seen John Cena on TV since SummerSlam, and there's been no explanation on-air as to where he's been and when he's coming back. He missed the first SmackDown exclusive pay-per-view last night, but it looks like he won't be missing the second one.

Dave Meltzer has revealed that Cena is scheduled to compete at No Mercy, which takes place on Oct. 9th, meaning we could see him return at any point to begin promoting the show.

As we saw at Backlash, Dean Ambrose lost the WWE Championship to A.J. Styles, which paves the way for a Styles/Cena rematch, this time with the title on the line.

Perhaps the better option would be to book Ambrose's rematch for No Mercy, and build up Styles/Cena for Survivor Series in November. It would probably make more logical sense to make Cena earn the title shot than be granted one, and to help make Dean look like more than just a transitional champion.

With SmackDown's ratings continuing to take a hit, Cena's return is good news for the company. However, he won't be staying around for long, as he is scheduled to leave WWE for a couple months again later this year when American Grit goes back into production.
