John Cena To Host Saturday Night Live
The champ reaches the Cenation on December 10.
Saturday Night Live's official Twitter account announced Friday that John Cena would be hosting the December 10 episode of the show, featuring musical guest Maren Morris. Cena later confirmed the news on his own Twitter account, describing himself as "honored" and "excited" to have the job.
Cena, who is currently on a hiatus from wrestling while filming season two of the Fox reality competition American Grit, has seen his star rise greatly over the past couple of years. After stealing the show in hit comedies in 2015, Cena was sidelined with a shoulder injury in 2016, but he still managed to continue to raise his mainstream profile.
During the year, he co-hosted several episodes of The Today Show, appeared in national ad campaigns for the Ad Council, Hefty, and Wonderful Pistachios, and took on hosting duties for the ESPY Awards on ABC. He has nevertheless promised to continue his wrestling career, and he is slated to return to the ring late this month.
As SNL host, John Cena follows in the footsteps of The Rock, who has hosted the show four times - in 2000, 2002, 2009, and 2015.
