WWE's official website has announced that UK wrestling legend Johnny Saint will assume the role of General Manager for the promotion's United Kingdom brand going forward.

76-year old Saint, who first made his in-ring debut as a wrestler in 1958, brings credibility and a touch of class to the table. He'll be in the house for WWE's UK Title Tournament shows at the Royal Albert Hall on 18-19 June (airing via the WWE Network on 25-26 June) and is expected to play GM as the company develop their UK division.

A master of the mat-based British style, Saint was a stalwart on the old World Of Sport shows in the 1970s and into the 80s. Younger UK pros, such as Tyler Bate and Pete Dunne, cite Saint's work as a massive influence on their own, and even former WWE Champion Daniel Bryan has studied his style.

Saint never reached WWE as a full-time wrestler, so it's nice to see him get recognition for his hard work over the past six decades by becoming GM of the UK branch. This is a tremendous opportunity for young wrestlers to learn from one of the best.
