Jon Stewart To Appear At WWE SummerSlam 2016
Celebrity guest confirmed on Raw.
On the last episode of Raw before SummerSlam, the brand's General Manager, Mick Foley, confirmed that former Daily Show host Jon Stewart will be at "The Biggest Party of the Summer" as a special guest.
Last year, Stewart wasn't only at SummerSlam, he played a major role at the show. Though he seemed to be an impartial observer when he opened up the event by interviewing Foley, he later shocked (and delighted) the WWE Universe when he interfered in the WWE World Heavyweight/United States Championship title versus title match, striking John Cena in the midsection with a steel chair. That assault allowed Rollins to defeat Cena, becoming a double champion.
The following evening on Raw, Stewart explained his actions - as a wrestling fan, he refused to stand by and watch Cena capture a 16th world title, which would tie Ric Flair's record. In retaliation, Cena planted him with an Attitude Adjustment.
Stewart, an avid wrestling fan who follows WWE's product, has also worked a pair of angles with Seth Rollins - one on Raw, and one on The Daily Show.
SummerSlam airs on Sunday, August 21 on the WWE Network at 7:00 PM ET.
