On 9 July, the two-time US Champion put in a trademark request for "Samuray del Sol" for merchandising purposes for, amongst other things, shirts, hoodies and hats.

The Samuray del Sol moniker is one that the Chicago native used for several years before landing in WWE in 2013.

As Samuray del Sol, the high-flyer competed for the likes of Dragon Gate USA, PWG, CZW and Evolve. During his time in AAA, he also used the Octagón Jr. mantle.

Across his eight years under the WWE banner, Kalisto won the NXT Tag Team Championship and WWE Cruiserweight Championship in addition to the aforementioned two stints as US Champ. He also impressively ranked at #25 in the 2016 edition of the PWI 500.

With WWE having made several rounds of releases this year, Kalisto was let go alongside Mickie James, Billie Kay, Peyton Royce, Wesley Blake, Tucker, Bo Dallas, Chelsea Green and Samoa Joe shortly after WrestleMania 37.

As of this writing, it's yet to be announced just when and where Samuray del Sol will surface next.
