Kane: Knox County Mayor Still Planning WWE Saudi Arabia Trip
"Mayor Jacobs won't speculate on Mr. Khashoggi's disappearance."
Knox County Mayor Glenn 'Kane' Jacobs, currently scheduled to appear in WWE Crown Jewel's nominal main event alongside The Undertaker opposite Triple H and Shawn Michaels, has no plans to cancel his trip to Saudi Arabia in the wake of the death of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
Turkish officials reported that the Washington Post columnist was vanished at the hands of Saudi security team. Riyadh have vehemently denied the assertions.
When questioned on the situation, Kane's spokesperson Rob Link confirmed that the mayor's plans to work in Riyadh on 2 November have no altered:
"Mayor Jacob won't speculate on Mr. Khashoggi's disappearance. However, he and his family are in the mayor's thoughts and prayers."
Even before Mr. Khashoggi's disappearance, the super-savvy Kane recognised the possible political implications of working a show at the behest of a repressive regime, turning his date into a charitable venture to the tune of $100k towards the Knoxville Foundation. Given the immense pressure on the company from both sides of the political spectrum to pull out of the Saudi deal since Mr. Khashoggi's supposed murder, the mayor's decision to double-down is a little curious.
