Karrion Kross Discusses Potential WWE Return
"I wouldn't be surprised."
Could we see a WWE return for Karrion Kross? As per the man himself, it's not something he's ruling out.
During an appearance on Chris Van Vliet's Insight show, Kross was asked about whether he'd ever be open to returning to Vince McMahon's sports entertainment juggernaut.
As the two-time NXT Champion explained (via Wrestling Inc.):
"I wouldn't be surprised. I, respectfully, wouldn't go back under the same circumstances, just out of a logical standpoint. I definitely think I would be interest in a lot more certain things. I think one of my biggest mistakes in general was, you know, I do pride myself on being a pleasure to work with, with whatever it is I'm doing. I like to create that good energy that goes around, and often times I probably should be a little more assertive when I think something is a bad idea."
Kross continued on:
"I think this time around, with this particular situation, I was really concerned about possibly having to go back out there into a national economy which, for lack of better words, is still recovering. I think about my family, I think about people that I need to take care of, that I want to take care of. I think about my future, and working for WWE was the best place to be to secure stuff like that."
After spells with Lucha Underground, AAA, IMPACT Wrestling and briefly MLW, Karrion Kross signed with WWE in February 2020.
Doomsday's first NXT match came in May of that year, and he'd dethrone Keith Lee at TakeOver XXX to become NXT Champion just three months later. Injury would immediately rob Kross of that prize, although he'd return and take the NXT Title from Finn Balor at NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver in April 2021.
The New Yorker's main roster bow would come last July, with him moved to the Raw brand. Unfortunately, WWE bizarrely opted to alter so much of what made Kross an attraction in NXT. No longer was Scarlett Bordeaux at his side, his stunning, cinematic entrance was stripped back, and it was stupidly decided to give the powerhouse a spruced-up outfit (complete with helmet) that looked like some sort of knock-off Sultan or Demolition get-up.
Both Kross and Scarlett were released as part of WWE's 4 November 2021 round of "budget cuts".
Bordeaux is already a free agent, with her being under a 30-day WWE non-compete clause. For Karrion Kross, his 90-day non-compete will make him free to wrestle elsewhere from 2 February. Already, Kross - under his old Killer Kross moniker - has been announced to face Flip Gordon at WrestlePro's Killer Instinct event on 5 February. Scarlett will also be in action on that night, taking on Harley Cameron.
