A report from Tokyo Sports (via PWInsider) in Japan claims new AEW signing Kazuchika Okada is earning TWO BILLION YEN for the duration of his three year contract. Sit down before you read the exchange into US dollars on that.

According to the report, Okada will earn a base rate of $4.5m per year. That equates to roughly $13.5m going from Tony Khan's coffers into the ex-New Japan favourite's bank account, which is obviously massive money. It does, however, show how much the AEW boss values Okada.

Khan will be hoping for a significant return on that investment over the next three years. Okada hitting pay-per-view main events is practically guaranteed then! In fairness, that was likely always the plan no matter how much cash All Elite paid out for his services.

Tokyo Sports claim this news comes direct from sources close to Okada himself. They've also said his salary "significantly overturns conventional wisdom in the Japanese professional wrestling world".

It's important to note that AEW hasn't officially confirmed these numbers. They're under no public obligation to do so; Tony can keep the truth close to his chest.
