Kenny Omega Pulled From AAA Triplemania By AEW
Kenny Omega's AEW suspension claims another date.
Kenny Omega's suspension from All Elite Wrestling has cost him a date outside his home promotion.
Konnan claimed on a recent episode of his Keepin' It 100 podcast that the former Mega Champion was due to return to AAA for Triplemania XXX: Mexico City on 15 October. This is now off the table. In Konnan's words, AEW "won't let him go."
Omega was amongst the AEW personnel served with an immediate suspension following the events of All Out 2022's post-show media scrum, where Kenny and The Young Bucks were reportedly involved in a brawl with CM Punk and Ace Steel. While accounts of what happened that night vary, Omega was allegedly bitten by Steel, who also pulled his hair.
AEW commissioned an independent investigation into the brawl shortly afterwards. Whether or not this is still ongoing is currently unclear, though Michael Nakazawa, Pat Buck, Christopher Daniels, and Brandon Cutler have had their own suspensions lifted when the investigation clarified that they had tried to break the fight up. Omega and the Bucks remain on ice, while Punk and Steel's punishments are yet to come to light.
Omega, who has played a hands-on role in producing AEW's upcoming Fight Forever video game, was in Japan with other AEW Games team members for the Tokyo Games Show last week. His suspension prevented him from participating in any AEW-related activities while there.
The Canadian was AAA Mega Champion from October 2019 to November 2021, when injury forced him to vacate. A bout between Omega and El Hijo del Vikingo, the current champion, has long been rumoured.
