Kenny Omega Says He Could Show Up In December & Still Win Wrestler Of The Year 2022
"The bar is shockingly low in 2022," says AEW's Kenny Omega of the 2022 Wrestler of the Year field.
Kenny Omega is at it again.
Though currently sidelined through myriad health issues, the former AEW World Champion has hit social media to stoke the fire by claiming that the bar for 2022's Wrestler of the Year award is "shockingly low."
Omega tweeted the following in response to a Twitter user's suggestion that he could show up halfway through the year and still scoop the prize:-
The bar is shockingly low in 2022. I could show up in December and still win via landslide.

A tweet that will surely receive a very normal response.
Amongst other honours, Omega was named Pro Wrestling Illustrated and the Wrestling Observer Newsletter's Wrestler of the Year (or equivalent) in 2021. The 38-year-old was atop AEW for much of that period, delivering acclaimed matches opposite the likes of Christian Cage, Bryan Danielson, and Rey Fenix, headlining multiple pay-per-views, eventually passing the belt over to 'Hangman' Adam Page at Full Gear 2021 in November.
The Page loss preceded Kenny taking an extended time away from AEW. Amongst other issues, Omega had been dealing with shoulder and knee injuries, as well as a hernia and vertigo, for over a year prior to departing. Several surgeries later, AEW fans are still awaiting his return.
