The continuing story of Kenny Omega's contractual future took another turn today following more drip-fed details from The Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer.

Speaking on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer commented on the developing tale by inferring that any potential agreement between Omega and WWE may have now been cast aside. He noted that; "Kenny has not said this specifically, but the tea leaves kinda say it... I've heard from WWE and... it's not gonna happen"

He followed that up by implying what many have thought likely all along - that 'The Best Bout Machine' will join his Being The Elite comrades to "Change The World" in All Elite Wrestling. Included in the deal could be a reappraised collaboration with New Japan Pro Wrestling despite Omega's own (potentially kayfabe) remarks to Tokyo Sports that he was leaving the organisation.

Suggesting that Kenny's status had been upgraded from “not working with AEW”, to there being “a very good shot of happening” since that interview, Meltzer commented that NJPW "badly" want to keep Kenny as negotiations continue.

Omega's existing deal expires on January 31st, meaning that he couldn't appear at the Royal Rumble but may well be freed up for whatever Cody and The Young Bucks have in mind for All Elite Wrestling's launch. The crew's Jacksonville rally ahead of SmackDown Live tapings in the same city will likely fuel the fires further until Kenny signs on somebody's dotted line.
