Kevin Dunn Shoots On WWE's ThunderDome In Rare Interview
What did WWE's production guru have to say?
WWE production chief Kevin Dunn doesn't give many interviews, but the folks at Cynopsis Media managed to coax an interview out of the man recently.
In it, Dunn spoke freely about the challenges he faced when helping bring WWE's ThunderDome vision to life on screen. According to Kev, the company tested their bold project for months before finally decreeing it ready for the air.
Things did not go smoothly at first.
Some of the more traditional camera angles Dunn and staff had used for decades no longer worked with the LED-heavy backdrop - he said they "made the virtual fans look flat", and that's why WWE decided to reimagine "lighting and production design from the ground up".
It was the only way to ensure that the new ThunderDome look popped on TV.
Kevin also admitted that his production team will continue using techniques they've learned in a "a post pandemic world" when things get back to normal. He described the whole thing as a learning curve that forced WWE production to "reinvent themselves and their day-to-day responsibilities".
WWE and Dunn are proud of what they've achieved since debuting the ThunderDome this past August.
