Konnan Hospitalised With Kidney Issue
Send some thoughts Konnan's way: the lucha libre legend is in hospital.
Former WCW and Impact Wrestling wrestler Konnan has been hospitalised with what Dave Meltzer describes as a "fairly serious" kidney issue.
Speaking on today's episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer said that while he doesn't have all the details on the situation confirmed yet, there's likely more to the story. He added that "things don't sound particularly good."
Konnan has a history of kidney issues, have undergone a transplant in July 2007.
The 57-year-old's rise to pro wrestling stardom kicked off in his native Mexico, with CMLL and AAA. Once described as "The Mexican Hulk Hogan," he was a huge money-drawing star who still holds attendance records in several cities, including Mexico City, and had multiple runs with WCW from 1990 up to the company's demise in 2001.
Konnan appeared for TNA later in his career, but had a hip replacement in 2007 and started winding down his in-ring career soon after. He was named part of Impact Wrestling's new creative team in January 2019 and remains active in MLW to this day.
Best wishes to Konnan during this tough period - and here's hoping for a full recovery.
