Kurt Angle Lifts Lid On Incredible Backstage WWE Chat With Brock Lesnar
Brock Lesnar asked Kurt Angle for some WWE advice...then didn't follow it!
Kurt Angle has revealed that he had a backstage conversation with Brock Lesnar one month before the infamous events of WrestleMania XX.
Angle told listeners on his podcast that Brock confided in him that he planned to leave WWE behind in early-2004 and try out for the NFL's Minnesota Vikings. Lesnar's biggest hang up was whether or not he should tell Vince McMahon about that immediately or wait until after 'Mania was done and dusted.
Offering advice, Kurt reasoned that Brock should wait until the biggest show of the year was out of the way before approaching McMahon with a bombshell that huge. The chat ended, and Angle felt good about the advice he'd given.
Lesnar didn't follow it.
Brock went right to Vince after that particular house show loop was over and confessed that he wasn't digging WWE's travel schedule anymore. He wanted to leave the company. Angle admired Lesnar's honesty, but wondered if that had been the right approach - especially with WrestleMania looming.
The legend believes that's why McMahon reacted so negatively to Brock's frankness. Vince had one million and one things to do before 'Mania, and he didn't want to hear that a top star was leaving on top of it.
