The scrapped WWE comeback plans that Kurt Angle spoke of earlier this month would have called for the Hall of Famer to appear on last week's Elimination Chamber 2022 show, says Kurt himself.

Speaking on his podcast, The Kurt Angle Show, Angle re-stated that he was due to appear at Royal Rumble 2022 (29 January), then enter a program with Alpha Academy and RKBro and blow it all off at Elimination Chamber. There, Kurt would have served as a special referee (h/t WrestlingNews.co):-

“There are a lot of rumors going around that I was supposed to be booked for Wrestlemania 38, which is not true at all. If you saw the posts, a lot of people thought that I was talking about WrestleMania when I was talking about what I was going to do at the Royal Rumble and have the program for a few weeks. Then the blow off would be in Saudi Arabia, where I would referee the match between RK-Bro and Alpha Academy.”

Continuing, Angle revealed that he isn't currently under WWE contract - and that his involvement in the ongoing RKBro/Alpha Academy feud was nixed:-

“So I am not signed with WWE by any means. We didn’t cut a deal. That whole program [RK-Bro vs. Alpha Academy] got canceled at the last second. So it never happened. It’s unfortunate, but you know, sometimes they have different plans for these guys. So there’s nothing you can do about it.”

RKBro and the Academy are still feuding on Raw, without Kurt's involvement. Rather than wrestling each other at Elimination Chamber, RKBro's Riddle participated in the titular men's match, from which he was eliminated by winner Brock Lesnar in around 10 minutes.
