Rowan's ridiculous year (a Champion with Daniel Bryan, the attempted murder of Roman Reigns, squashing jobbers for months with a spider in a box, buried in the aftermath of the awful idea) ended a way as horrible as the creative he was unfairly served.

He was soundly beaten by Drew McIntyre on the March 9th Raw in a match that'll only be remembered for the future WWE Champion killing the comical caged spider.
